Celebrating my 60th birthday at NYC’s Metropolitan Museum of Art was a real treat this year. Many things about my trip was momentous, including visiting an old friend in Brooklyn, and a custom birthday cake that was made to resemble my “Pandamonium” headpiece.
The cake was adorable. My favorite of all time, and made by the talented Beth Bennett at Bebe Bakes. If you are ever in need of a custom cake while in NYC, please patronize her.
My birthday roses from the Hubby. New York City is an ideal place to celebrate just about anything. There is something for everyone in this city.
The following are some pictures of The Met’s Sleeping Beauty collection. I do not think it was as spectacular as their “Heavenly Bodies” collection, but still a very memorable day. This exhibition had a very nice collection of hats and unique accessories. The first image is of a neck covering, so beautiful. It’s sort of like a “dickey” but I believe these were worn over the the dress to maybe cover the cleavage, or to stay warm? Either way, a wonderful accessory that I wish we could bring back into fashion.
A few dresses that stood out, and some accessories.
UK Milliner, Phillip Tracey made the rose for the Sleeping Beauty exhibition theme.
The following hats were part of a “eatable” garden sort of theme.
