Regal and radiant, The Lion’s Drum is a wearable sculpture rooted in cultural symbolism and artistic movement. The centerpiece—a smooth, black leather-covered base—rests like a drum atop the head, encircled by a dramatic halo of metallic straw braid, each coil hand-sculpted into ornate, rhythmic forms.

At its center sits a single red silk brocade button, representing the spirit of the red lion—a powerful symbol of protection, courage, and celebration in traditional Chinese lion dance.

Equal parts headpiece and story, The Lion’s Drum is both a tribute and a modern reimagining—bold, meditative, and alive with energy.

The Lion’s Drum draws its rhythm from memory, celebration, and cultural ritual. Inspired by the symbolic red lion of traditional Chinese lion dance, this piece honors the pulse of performance, the movement of sound, and the artistry behind ceremonial strength.

The leather-covered form represents the solidity and weight of a drum—grounded and centered—while the hand-shaped metallic straw braid radiates outward like vibrations in motion. At the heart of the piece, a single red silk brocade button signifies the red lion: fierce, playful, and sacred. It is both guardian and joy-bringer.
