Sailor Red Boater
I had this vibrant read parasisal straw capeline burning a hole in my inventory. It was a vintage one I had sitting around waiting to be made into something small like a boater. I was about to upload it into my store, but had a melt down of technical difficulties. C'est la vie!
This sweet boater is now sitting in my collection, and if anyone out there is interested in purchasing it, please check my store. I am planning on doing more boater type shapes in the future. It’s become one of my favorite styles to wear, and now to make.
New to the Sailor boater is a hair elastic attached to the back so you can slip a comb in for securing higher on the head. It’s a great technique without having to sew in a comb and risk damaging the straw. I think I might add this feature to more of my hats in the future.
Added goodies to my Atelier this month are several pieces of vintage kimono silk that I am anxious to turn into turbands for year-round wear. I am doing my best to source unique pieces from around the world, and when I can up-cycle it, even better. If any of you lovely ladies are in need of a Mad Duchess turband, send me a request! Here’s a sneak peak of some of my fabrics.
